Hi, I'm Alex, an artist from Barcelona.
After spending twelve years in the UK, primarily in London, I relocated to Copenhagen in 2023, where I currently live and work.
Through my intimate drawings, I capture the quiet beauty of ordinary moments, depicting scenes of friends hanging out, messy kitchens, laundry baskets, and fleeting gestures—experiences in which the familiar reveals something unexpectedly vibrant.
A recurring theme in my work is the human figure—especially women—portrayed within introspective, intimate interior spaces. Both the interiors and figures are frequently rendered with intentional distortion, lending a surreal quality to these contemporary domestic scenes. Elongated, hallucinatory visual elements heighten the sense of unreality, while the characters exist in a dreamlike state, seemingly suspended in moments of transition. The spaces themselves are defined by sharp perspectives and a palette of subdued, pale, yet vibrant colours.
I work from both observation and memory, paying attention to small details that allow each line to convey the warmth of a lived moment. I primarily use coloured pencils and acrylics on paper.
Thank you for visiting and engaging with my work!
